Meet Joe Han

Head of Player Strategy & Ethical Gaming, Winbox MY

Joe brings together a player-first approach, an understanding of gambling psychology, and practical experience in responsible gaming. Her focus is on helping players make better-informed decisions, recognise their own habits, and enjoy gaming in a more balanced and sustainable way.

“Winning is not just about luck. Mindset, discipline and an understanding of risk all matter. A more informed player knows their limits, recognises their own patterns and understands when it is time to stop. My aim is to give players the knowledge to make clearer decisions and enjoy gaming more responsibly.” - Joe

Core Expertise

With more than ten years of experience in behavioral psychology and high-stakes decision-making, Joe brings a research-driven perspective to player behavior and risk. He began his career in academia, studying the cognitive biases that influence how people assess risk and make decisions under pressure. Joe later worked with financial institutions before moving into the iGaming sector, where he saw a growing need to better connect platform design with a deeper understanding of player psychology. Today, his work focuses on responsible gaming, transparent systems, and player-centered practices that support better decision-making and long-term player well-being.

  • Player Psychology Analysis: Using the principles of behavioral science to make the players aware of their habits and to make informed choices.

  • Ethical Framework Development: Developing and enacting responsible gaming policies that are proactive rather than reactive.

  • Risk & Reward Assessment: Writing instructions on how to analyze game mechanics through a psychological and statistical perspective and teach them to the players.

  • Content & Resource Integrity: Managing a rigorous editorial process to guarantee that all educational content is evidence-based, comprehensible and useful to the player.

CommitTED to Player Welfare

Joe holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of British Columbia, where his research focused on decision-making under pressure. That academic background shapes his approach to responsible gaming and player education. Rather than using psychological triggers to influence behaviour, Joe focuses on helping players understand how cognitive biases can affect judgement, risk perception and decision-making. His goal is to make gaming content clearer, more transparent and more useful, so players can make informed choices with a better understanding of their own behaviour.
